The Turntable
Moments never last me long enough to catch my breath.
Music is a powerful instrument for self-actualization. From 1980 to 1990 I lived hardcore punk rock. I bought records...wallpapered my bedroom walls with posters and flyers...learned to play drums...played in a band...toured...started a record company and met thousands of like thinking people that had something to say and were eager to listen. Here is a mixture of artists from this era that crafted music that still resonates in my heart. I can still smell my sweat soaked leather jacket with Minor Threat and 7 Seconds proudly painted on the back. I can still visualize Lee Ving from Fear with spit dripping from his face as he kept daring the crowd at Devonshire Downs to take their best shot. I remember pulling up for sound check to a show in Montreal and seeing a kid wearing an argyle sock on his head for a beanie and our bass player John Mastropaolo saying, “ now that’s how you wear a sock!”.
I unfortunately recall Hank from Boston dropping his pants and showing us his tattoo of the batmobile on his butt cheek...and his explanation was..." they’re headed into the bat cave”! I understand Hank is now a preacher...
